Xobdo.org is seeking a skilled Lexicographer for the Assamese language to help develop and maintain a comprehensive digital dictionary. You will play a key role in compiling, editing, and updating lexical entries, ensuring they reflect contemporary usage and cultural nuances.
Responsibilities:
Research, compile, and document Assamese words, meanings, and usage.
Edit and verify entries for accuracy, grammar, and cultural relevance.
Work with other lexicographers and linguists to enhance dictionary content.
Monitor language trends and incorporate new words or phrases.
Engage with the user community to gather feedback.
Qualifications/Requirements:
Degree in Linguistics, Assamese Language, or related field.
Native-level proficiency in Assamese (written and spoken).
Knowledge of Assamese culture and dialects.
Strong research and editing skills.
Familiarity with Unicode, proficiency in MS-Word/Excel and Internet are a must.
Familiarity with lexicographical software or language databases is a plus.
Candidates must have his/her own computers with reasonable internet speed.

Position Overview:
Xobdo.org is seeking a Lexicography Intern focused on regional languages of North-East India. This role will involve researching, compiling, and refining entries for languages such as Assamese, Bodo, Karbi, Dimasa, MIshing, Khasi, meetelon, MIzo, etc. The intern will work with language experts and community sources to document these languages accurately.
Responsibilities:
Assist in creating and editing dictionary entries for regional languages.
Conduct research on linguistic features and cultural contexts.
Collaborate with native speakers to collect lexical data.
Help integrate regional language data into the digital platform.
Participate in discussions on language representation and preservation.
Qualifications:
Degree or ongoing studies in Linguistics or related fields.
Strong interest in languages of North-East India.
Familiarity with regional languages is a plus.
Preferably native speaker of the concerned language.
Research, writing, and analytical skills.
Ability to work independently in a remote setting.
